Blue Lipstick

Wearing a fresh shade of lipstick
It’s a stunning blue
Fell up in this
Without intention to

Invited you in
A risk I was willing to take
Cost our friendship
From a sweet dream I’d soon awake

Craved your affection
Your embrace imparted protection
Unsure we were meant to be
Foolish to risk and see

Not a word, just dismissed
Like I released you the last time we kissed
Waiting to unveil my sugar walls
Shifted this thing and stalled

Is this rejection
Result of your reflection
Of time passed
When my love hit in a flurry but didn’t last

Passion without obligation
Caused emotional deflation
A descent back to friends
Unwisely my heart I would lend

Wow.

*endless applause* Seriously.

And I'm very critical of poetry. This was absolutely breathtaking. :)
